What is a smoothie?

A smoothie is a healthy as well as yummy drink that helps in maintaining weight and cutting inches too. It is prepared by putting together all the ingredients in a container and processing them. Apart from the main fruit/vegetable, smoothies may include other ingredients such as water, sweeteners (e.g. stevia), dairy products like curd, seeds (e.g. chia). The healthfulness of a smoothie depends on its ingredients.

How is it helpful and different from juice?

The difference is fiber; smoothies have a lot of fiber in comparison to juices. The entirety of the fruits/vegetables including the fiber is consumed in smoothies.

Fiber helps slow digestion, makes you feel full for a long time, helps in stabilization of blood sugar levels, and feeds the microbes in your gut thus proving a pivoted role in overall health benefits. On one hand insoluble fiber helps in keeping you active and attracting water to the guts whereas soluble fiber gives several benefits like lowering blood cholesterol, slowing down the absorption of carbohydrates from foods, feeding the important bacteria in gut.

How to prepare Papaya Smoothie?

Papaya is a wonderful fruit when it comes to body cleansing and detoxification. It contains significant amount of fiber, folate, vitamin A, C & B, calcium, iron and phosphorous. They are relatively low in calories, making it a good choice for people who want to lose weight. Adding papaya in your breakfast smoothie is a good way to start your day. It is a wonderful diuretic and antioxidant, possessing a large amount of fiber and lesser calories.

Apart from this it also helps in weight loss and fighting cellulite. Papaya also contains an enzyme called papain which aids digestion, constipation, promotes regularity and healthy digestion process.

Ingredients

  • Ripe papaya
  • Curd
  • 2 spoons chia seeds
  • 1 tsp stevia

Recipe

  • Soak the chia seeds in water 15 minutes before preparing smoothie
  • Cut the papaya in a blender
  • Add curd till your desired consistency
  • Add chia seeds
  • Blend all the ingredients
  • And your smoothie is ready to drink.
