Name of Recipe : NUTRI DAHIBALLS – A HEALTHY SNACK
Ingredients : FOR THE BALLS:
*Split black gram, Soaked and drained – 1/2 cup
*Carom seeds- 1/4 teaspoon
*Ginger – 1/2 inch
*Green chillies- 1/2 tablespoon
*Oil- 1 tablespoon
*Salt- To taste
CURD DRESSING AND GARNISHING:
*Thick curd- 1cup
*Dates chutney – 1 tablespoon
*Coriander-mint chutney – 3 teaspoons
*Red chilly powder- 1/4 teaspoon
*Black pepper powder- 1/4 teaspoon
*Roasted cumin seed powder – 1/4 teaspoon
*Coriander leaves- 1-2 sprigs.
Method : FOR BALLS:
*Clean, wash and soak the black gram overnight.
*Next day, combine dal, carom seeds, ginger, green chillies and salt and blend in a mixer to a smooth paste using little amount of water.
*Transfer the batter into a bowl and keep it aside.
*Now, heat up a non-stick pan, grease it with oil and put the mixed batter shaped into vada/balls.
*Cover it with a lid and let it cook over a slow flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
*For the next side to be cooked up, turn it over and repeat the same process.
*After completing this step, put them in a bowl with enough water and allow them to soak for 5 minutes. Squeeze and keep it aside.
Place balls in a serving bowl, put thick curd, dates chutney,coriander-mint chutney, red chilly powder, black pepper powder, roasted cumin seeds powder as per given quantities. Finally present it with fresh coriander leaves.
