In an effort to educate the women who were one step far from the next step in life, becoming a mother, Dietitian Shreya held a talk on pregnancy and lactation at Chandigarh on November 16.
Motherhood is a challenging task. And it surely calls for a little bit of celebration, she said. A ramp walk with baby bump a show was also held at the occasion. 250 contestants from tricity, and as far as Amritsar and Ludhiana participated.
Clearing the myths about pregnancy, here is what Shreya had to say:
Myth: Craving for salty foods means you’re having a boy and craving for sweet foods indicate a girl is expected.
• Fact: research shows that cravings have nothing to do with determining the sex of a baby.

Myth: If you suffer from heartburn during pregnancy, it means your baby will be born with lots of hair.
Fact: Having a heatburn Heartburn is a common problem for pregnant women and have nothing to do with the quantity of hair for your child. Even women who suffered a lot from heartburn have welcomed bald babies
Myth: Payapa should not be given to pregnant women as it may lead to abortion
Fact: There is no harm in having the fruit if you like it.
Myth: eating Coconut and Kesar ensure that the baby will be fair.
Fact: Baby’s complexion depends on its genes and not on the food we eat. Babies are usually fair.
Myth: Baby will be aborted on eating oily food.
Fact: No! it will never happen because of oily food.
