At a workshop on women health held at the YES bank sector 27 branch, benefits of having a healthy diet was discussed by dietitian Shreya. A healthy diet gives you energy, supports your mood, maintains your weight, and keeps you looking your best, she said.
Explaining the need for good nutrition, she said, It starts with the basics: a well-rounded diet consisting of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy fats, and lean sources of protein. Your diet has a major effect on your food cravings, your stress levels, and your energy throughout the day.
While there are some foods we should all be eating more of, men and women also have their own set of dietary requirements as well as their own unique health concerns. Here are some foods that every woman, as per Shreya,
Salmon: Not only is salmon rich in iron, which is usually lacking in women, but it is also full of omega-3 fatty acids, known to improve your mood.
Cranberries: Certain studies over the years have found a link between eating cranberries and how it reduces the risk of breast cancer and heart disease
Spinach: While this might not be a much-loved food, spinach is packed with a host of vitamins, minerals and high amounts of magnesium
Oats: Bursting with health-boosting nutrients, great for female health, oats keep your heart healthy, are great for digestion, keep blood pressure levels in check and also contain vitamin B6, which helps prevent PMS and mood swings.
